IELTS Coaching in Ahmedabad

IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is a worldwide recognized English test designed for candidates willing to study, work, or migrate to native English-speaking countries, like- the USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. Three organizations, The British Council, Cambridge English, and IDP: IELTS Australia, manage the IELTS exam jointly. In this examination, the examiner assesses the candidate's English language ability on four parameters- Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. The marking scale of IELTS is 0 to 9, where a 0 band score implies not attempting the test, and 9, the highest band, means the candidate has a complete command of the English language. One can get a grasp on English specifically for IELTS through IELTS Coaching as convenient.

8 Very Good User

6 Competent User
5 Modest User
4 Limited User

The higher the score, the better your chances to fulfill your study or work purpose because an overall band shows the degree of the candidate's ability in English communication. Even if a candidate is not an English medium school/college student, they can score quite well in IELTS and have complete IELTS Preparation by enrolling in the Offline or Online IELTS Coaching in Ahmedabad at Madhavi's British Academy.

IELTS Types

IELTS Academic

IELTS Academic is suitable for candidates

  • Study in English-speaking Universities for degree level education and above.
  • For Professional Registration.

This test measures English proficiency on a Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening basis. It can be attempted on Paper, Computer, or Online (at home).

IELTS General Training

IELTS General Training is appropriate for candidates who wish

  • To apply for below-degree-level courses in English-speaking countries.
  • To get work experience or employment purposes.
  • To migrate to certain countries (UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand).

Similar to IELTS Academic, General Testing also checks English Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking skills. Candidates can attempt the test on paper and computer. Educators at IELTS Coaching suggest that it is better to give sample tests at the institute before attempting the final exam to get accustomed to the paper format and the test environment.

It is necessary to check the organization's eligibility criteria regarding IELTS Test Type and IELTS Score before deciding on the test type to attempt. Candidates can take help from IELTS Coaching Classes whenever in doubt since IELTS Trainers, with their experience, give proper advice regarding the test type based on their going abroad purpose.

In both the test types-IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training, the Reading, Writing, and Listening are to be finished in one day (no breaks), and the schedule for the Speaking test is either a week before or after the three-test day. One can put their queries to IELTS Coaching Classes and get all those doubts regarding IELTS Course solved easily.

IELTS Modules Preparation at Madhavi's IELTS Coaching in Ahmedabad

IELTS Listening

It is common in IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training modules. The time duration of the test is 30 minutes (40 questions), and an additional 10 minutes is time to transfer the answers to the answer sheet.

There are four recordings the candidate has to listen to (Accents can be American, Australian, British, Canadian, or New Zealand). The candidates hear the recording (played only once) and pen down their answers roughly before writing them on the answer sheet. Our IELTS trainers at IELTS Coaching ensure that the test takers are well-prepared to understand the various accents.

Task 1
Multiple Choice Questions

It can be choosing one or more correct answers or completing the sentence through MCQs, which reveals the understanding level of the candidate regarding a specific topic.

Task 2
Matching

The candidate has to match the best possible answer based on the text listened to in the recording. It shows the candidate's ability to make connections and recognition skills.

Task 3
Plan, Map, or Diagram Labelling

It demands the candidate to label a map, plot, or diagram. It is conducted to assess how well the candidate can relate to the listened speech and its visual illustration.

Task 4
Form, Note, Table, Flow-chart, or Summary Completion

It may ask the candidate to fill in the missing information or select the answers from various options. The task helps to understand the candidate's precise noting of the crucial points.

Task 5
Sentence Completion

It requires the candidate to complete the summary by completing the sentences according to the instructions given, which determines the candidate's skill to catch important information.

Task 6
Short answer questions

Candidates have to write answers to the questions within the word limit mentioned. It checks accuracy, remembering power (key points), and careful listening of the candidate.

IELTS Listening marking depends on correctness, as one point is marked for each correct answer (considering the spelling and grammar). The candidate's score out of 40 is converted to a band score (0 to 9).

IELTS Reading

The question's theme, difficulty level, and approach in IELTS Reading differ in Academic and General Training formats, while the tasks remain the same. In General, there are 3 sections with different short and long texts. In Academic, there are three passages. The duration of the IELTS Reading is 60 minutes (40 questions).

While Academic Reading assesses the comprehension potential of the candidate through complex and academia-related topics, General Reading focuses on understanding ability through everyday interests topics. The pedagogy at IELTS Coaching is according to the module the test takers choose.

Task 1
Multiple Choice Questions

It analyses candidates based on how well they choose the best option to complete the sentence. The candidate may have to find the best possible answers from the options given suiting the questions, showing the overall understanding of the text.

Task 2
Identifying Information

Here, the candidate must read carefully and answer from True, False, or Not Given options by reading the question and the passages. This aims to see if the candidate understands, recognizes, and interprets the information correctly.

Task 3
Identifying Writer's View

It is similar to Task 2. Here, the candidate has to choose from Yes, No, and Not Given options regarding the writer's point of view after reading the statements (questions). One has to answer based on whether the writer claims the information, disagrees with it, or if the writer never makes the related statement.

Task 4
Matching Information

Here, the examiner tests the scanning skills. The candidate has to find the information (summary, description, reason, etc.) by locating that in the given sections.

Task 5
Matching Headings

According to the text passage, the candidate has to match the correct heading that suits the different paragraphs. It checks the candidate's skills to recognize the main idea of each para.

Task 6
Matching Features

It is similar in terms of matching two lists; the only difference is the candidate must relate the correct narrative or characteristics with the statements asked. It requires scanning and skimming skills.

Task 7
Matching Sentence Endings

This is another matching task to choose the best option to end the sentence left incomplete in the question, considering the main idea of the passage.

Task 8
Sentence Completion

As per the instruction, the candidate has to complete the given sentence. It is usually one-three numbers or words and examines the potential of the test taker to catch the specific details.

Task 9
Summary, Note, Table, or Flow-chart Completion

On the basis of a passage (specific paragraph) summary, flow chart, or table, the candidate has to understand the information and fill in the correct word(s) accordingly as answers.

Task 10
Diagram Label Completion

The candidate has to understand the passage and answer in a few words (as per the question's instruction) based on the pictorial representation of a section of the text.

Task 11
Short-answer Questions

It seeks to assess the candidate's ability to read and locate factual details and answer the questions in either one, two, or three words or numbers.

The examiner marks the candidate out of 40 based on the candidate's reading (comprehension, factual and detail understanding, scanning and skimming abilities, etc.). The final score of the particular test is between 0 to 9 (marks conversion).

IELTS Writing

Both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Reading tests have two tasks to complete. Task 1 of both differ, and Task 2 of those are the same. The topics are of general interest. The candidate has to finish both tasks in 60 minutes duration.

Task 1 (Academic)

The format of the task is describing and explaining based on graphs, diagrams, figures, etc., in a neutral, semi-formal, or academic tone of expression (minimum words- 150). It tests the relevancy, identification of important information, and accuracy of the answers through the academic writing style of the candidate.

Task 1 (General Training)

The test format task includes a situation as a question to which a candidate has to write a letter (style formal, semi-formal, or informal, based on who the addressee is) in at least 150 words.

Task 2 (Academic and General Training)

In both modules, the candidate has to write an essay where the question is in a form of an argument, point of view, or problem. In the Academic one, the style has to be Formal, whereas, in General Training, the style can be personal/informal. Minimum words- 150

Overall, the Writing Test responses by the candidate must have a proper writing flow and be linked to previous and after paragraphs with a well-organized start and finish. The answers must have accurate grammar and punctuation, which they can learn by joining IELTS Classes. The assessment of both tasks is based on the response and fulfillment of the question's requirements. From vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation to clarity, fluency, and organized response, the examiner gives the scores.

IELTS Speaking

Both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training have the same format for IELTS Speaking. The Speaking test duration lasts between 11 to 14 minutes.

The Speaking test aims to analyze the level of English speaking skills with articulation, vocabulary and grammar precision, and fluency.

Part 1
Introduction and Interview

This is a general one with questions on family, personal interests, work, etc., to know the candidate's opinions and ability to express them clearly. It is completed within four-five minutes.

Part 2
Long Run

The candidate here has to talk about the topic given on the test card, state its aspects and explain one specifically. It is a minute or two minutes duration task (excluding a minute of preparation) to check how well the candidate structures their speech and answers related questions put forward by the examiner.

Part 3
Discussion

The examiner asks abstract questions related to the topic. It includes a further discussion to assess the candidate's justification and analysis skills.

IELTS Speaking marking and assessment includes scoring between 0 to 9, based on English speaking fluency, sequential sentences, proper use of connectors, coherency, accuracy in grammar, pronunciation or diction, and vocabulary range and precision.
